What is the Zell Miller Scholarship?
The Zell Miller Scholarship is a scholarship program that provides financial aid to students who are studying in the fields of math, science, technology, engineering and mathematics. The scholarship was created by former Georgia governor Royce C. “Zell” Miller and his wife Nita W. Miller. The goal of the scholarship is to provide financial support for students who might not be able to afford a college education on their own.
The scholarship is awarded through a competitive process that evaluates an applicant’s academic performance as well as their need for financial assistance.

Who is Zell Miller?
Zell Miller is an American politician who served as the 73rd Governor of Georgia from 1991 to 1999 and as the U.S. Senator from 2000 to 2005.
Zell Miller is a well-known philanthropist, who has donated his time and resources to help children with disabilities, veterans and their families, and those in need. He also established a scholarship program for high school graduates called Zell Miller Scholarship Program that offers $10,000 per year for four years of college or university education.
What are the Benefits of Receiving a Zell Miller Scholarship?
The Zell Miller Scholarship program is a need-based scholarship that offers full tuition coverage to in-state students with a 3.0 GPA and a 19 ACT score or higher. The scholarship covers the cost of tuition, room, board, books, and fees for up to four years.
Students are not required to be from Georgia or have lived in Georgia to apply for this scholarship.

What are the Requirements for a Zell Miller Scholarship?
In order to get the Zell Miller Scholarship, you must be a high school graduate and have a 2.5 GPA or higher. You also need to be enrolled in college and have an ACT score of at least 18 or SAT score of at least 1290.
The scholarship is worth $10,000 and is awarded to students that are majoring in STEM, who are from Georgia, and who are from low-income families.
Documents required for Zell Miller Scholarship
The applicant must submit the following documents:
- A completed application form
- An official copy of their high school transcript
- A letter from your high school counselor or principal
- A letter from your college counselor or advisor
- Proof of enrollment in an accredited institution of higher education
Zell Miller Scholarship Deadline
The application deadline is either the last day of the school term or the date of a student’s withdrawal, whichever comes first. It is strongly advised that you submit your Zell Miller Scholarship application as soon as possible; the sooner you apply, the sooner funds are disbursed to your school and credited to your account.
