Eligibility Criteria for the ADB Japan Scholarship Program 2023
Applicants must meet the following requirements to be eligible for the ADB Japan Scholarship:
- The candidate must be a citizen of an ADB member country or a country eligible for Japanese ODA scholarships.
- Candidates must have been accepted to the University of Tokyo in Japan for a master’s degree program.
- Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and an outstanding academic record.
- After completing the degree program, the candidate must have two years of professional experience.
- Candidates must be fluent in English.
- The candidate must be under the age of 35. However, the age limit for programs designed for senior officials and managers is 45 years.
- If the candidate is an ADB employee or has a close relationship with an ADB employee, he or she cannot apply.
- The candidate must be in good health and be willing to relocate to Tokyo for studies.
- Candidates who do not live or work in their home country are not eligible to apply.
- Candidates must agree to return to their home countries at the end of the program.
- To keep the scholarship for a second year, the candidate must maintain an outstanding academic record.

How to Apply for the ADB Scholarship Program 2023
The following are step-by-step instructions for applying to the ADB Scholarship program.
- Candidates must apply to the University of Tokyo for the desired master’s program.
- Candidates must apply for the ADB scholarship.
- The ADB JSP information sheet form must also be submitted to the University of Tokyo.
